For the fourth consecutive year, the Herbert Wertheim College of Business secured the premium No. 1 spot among four-year public schools on Niche’s recently released 2027 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance.

This year, the Wertheim College also earned the No. 2 honor among all colleges – public and private – offering accounting and finance, surging three places from No. 5 in 2026 and again ranking highest among Florida schools.

The college also maintained a strong showing in the category of Best Colleges for Business in America, landing at No. 4 among public schools and No. 11 overall.

“We continue to ride the momentum made possible by the outstanding work of our preeminent faculty members whose impactful teaching and research inspire their students to achieve at their highest potential,” said Michael D. Hartline, dean of the college. “Our dedicated staff also lead the way in support of our students’ academic and professional success. As these annual Niche rankings show, our Wertheim College community continues to thrive. We are incredibly proud of what we are accomplishing together.”

Niche produces its rankings to help prospective students evaluate colleges and find their right fit. The research company says its methodology combines “trusted data and honest feedback from real students,” incorporating U.S. Department of Education data on factors such as acceptance and enrollment rates, graduation and retention rates, and student-faculty ratios. Niche also factors in student perspectives, with more than 9,000 reviews of FSU featured on the site.

“I couldn’t be happier with my experience so far,” an FSU honors business student recently wrote. “I’ve particularly enjoyed the opportunities for intellectual growth, whether through engaging classes or fascinating discussions outside of the classroom. FSU feels like the perfect blend of rigorous academics, vibrant campus life and endless opportunities to explore my interests, including my finance major.”

Another student reviewer lauded the opportunity for connection and community at FSU.

“You will find your people here 100% and create bonds that are truly unmatched … You’re guaranteed to learn much and walk away with a well-earned degree.”

Along with the rankings, Niche determines grades for various categories at each university. FSU overwhelmingly received As on its Niche report card, including A+ for Academics, Athletics, Professors and Student Life.

As acclaim for the Wertheim College continues to build, so does its student body. A record 10,000-plus FSU students are enrolled in a business course this fall, Hartline said.

“Fortunately, Dr. Herbert Wertheim’s $65 million investment that named the college and our magnificent new building has provided a windfall of new resources to further boost student and faculty success,” Hartline said. “We welcome the new opportunities to make a positive impact on tomorrow’s business leaders.”
